Introduction to Hydrodynamic Instability
MEC631 at École polytechnique (Master level)
Fundamental and advanced concepts of flow instability
analysis are introduced. Linear eigenmode analysis in local and
global formulations, non-modal description of a linear system
response to forcing, and nonlinear saturation effects are the main topics.
MECxxx at École polytechnique (Master level)
Basics of general acoustic theory are covered first: plane and spherical
waves, compact and non-compact sources. The generation of sound by
flow unsteadiness is then addressed by means of acoustic analogies.
